Losing Another One in Norfolk

Just over a week ago, FTVLive told that WAVY Chief Meteorologist Don Slater was making the slow walk to the exit.

Slater is cutting back and the Nexstar station stripped Slater of his Chief Meteorologist title and gave him the title of “Chief Emeritus” at the station.

Well, Slater isn’t the only longtime talent headed to the exit.

Sports Director Bruce Rader is stepping down at the end of the month. He will also being staying on in a reduced role at the station.

Rader says that his plan to retire has taken him two years to execute.

“After a great 45-year run, I am stepping down as Sports Director of WAVY-TV and FOX43 at the end of February. This is the culmination of a two-year exit plan,“ Radar says on the station’s website.

“I am looking forward to making up some of the lost family time,” he added.
