Maybe You Should Move Up to the Mothership
/By now you likely know the story about NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace and the noose that was found in his garage. NASCAR and the FBI investigated the incident and believe that Wallace was not the target and that the noose had been there prior to his team showing up at the race.
It a sport that has a large racist following, Wallace has dealt with a number of incidents and and derogatory comments behind his back.
It was at least a small slice of good news to know that he was likely not the target in this incidendence, but it has not stopped the hateful messages thrown his way.
The owner of the track where the noose was found was trying to sell the noose online. The owner pulled it down, only after a lot of backlash.
And then there are people like WJZY (Charlotte) Sports Anchor Will Kunkel.
Kunkle thinks that Wallace owes an apology for his comments after the noose was found.
After the noose was found, Wallace said in an interview, “It’s simple-minded people like that, the ones that are afraid of change, they use everything in their power to defend what they stand up for... instead of trying to listen and understand what’s going on.”
The bottom line, there are still, he calls them “simple-minded,” I call them racists people out there. Is he really supposed to say he’s sorry to them? Also, since he did not name anyone, are people going to stand out and say, “Yeah, I’m simple-minded and he owes me an apology”?
Ok, is that what Kunkle is doing?
Comments to his post show that maybe, just maybe Kunkle and his white privilege should have sat this one out.
Then again, maybe he is auditioning for a gig at Fox News.
Just saying….
