A Day Off at Tegna...

Tegna employees received and internal email from CEO Dave Lougee telling them that the company is declaring Juneteenth a company holiday.

Employees will be able to take the day off with pay and if not Friday, they can roll it over to another day.

It is a nice gesture by the company to show support to their black employees.

What would be a better show of support is to put some of those black employees in the News Director’s chair, or better yet the General Managers chair.

For too long, the TV news business has relied many on old white guys to run the operations. It is well past time that we start seeing more people of color and women in top management positions at not only Tegna but TV stations across the country.

A paid day off is nice, but it’s time to see a real change.
