Tulsa Station Jumping the Gun with Push Alerts

For most people in TV news, it doesn't take you long to realize that you can't always believe what you hear on the scanner and you should definitely confirm anything you hear on the scanner before reporting it.

But, for the folks at KOTV in Tulsa, they must have skipped that class in J-School.

KOTV has grown into the bad habit of sending out push alerts on things they hear on the scanner. Then they look kind of stupid when the story is followed up with another push alert saying it was nothing.

When you send out unverified push alerts, you can see how it could panic people. As a parent, how would you feel if you got the push alert about a shooting at Braum's restaurant where your child works or went to eat?

Only to be told 4 minutes later it was a false alram.

The Tulsa Police are also getting tired of KOAT and their push alerts. They are saying that some of the alerts are causing them problems, yet the station seems not to care.

Some viewers have told FTVLive they have grown so tired of the bogus alerts, they have uninstalled the app.

It's time the station rethink their push alerts because the current method is clearly not working.

Stay tuned...
