Not Giving the Full Story

If you watched WMC in Memphis, the station had a story about a University of Memphis football player being kicked off the team after being arrested and charged with rape.

But, if you were following WMC Sports Reporter Jarvis Greer, then you were not getting the full story.

Greer tweeted about how the Memphis Tigers were back in the Top 25, he also retweeted about a traffic delay near the stadium:

But, when it came to the big story of the player being arrested for rape and kicked off the team, this is how Greer handled the story on Twitter:

So, why did WMC's Sports Reporter downplay such a serious story?

Well, along with being a Sports Reporter for WMC, Greer is also the Memphis Tigers color commentator, traveling with them to every game.

Back in 2013, he told the school newspaper  "I am looking forward to being around the sport and the team on a more personal level than just sitting in the stands or watching on television," he said. "We get to travel with the team, stay in the hotel, see what the guys are like off the field as well as on. There's something neat about having behind the scenes knowledge of how the whole operation is put together, knowing why this should work, or what really went wrong with that."

But it looks like having that "behind the scenes knowledge" means keeping a lid on anything embarrassing for the team.

Maybe WMC needs a sports reporter who actually... reports.

Just saying
