CBS News Moves Some Chess Pieces Around the Board

CBS and the O&O’s have announced the new lineup of journalists who will be based in “community news hubs” the South and the middle of the country.

CBS President of editorial and newsgathering, Adrienne Roark told the staff via memo that the journalists “will be based in cities across the South and the middle of the country with growing populations.”

“These news hubs will allow us to respond to breaking news quicker, unearth stories of national importance from their own communities and deliver deeper reporting on the 2024 Election from every corner of the country.”

Seems a bit odd to make this change with just 48 days left before the election. I would have thought this is some you would have done months out from the election.

Here’s the assignments:

Jason Allen, previously a reporter with CBS News Texas, will be a correspondent based in Dallas/Fort Worth.

Andres Gutierrez, most recently a reporter with CBS News Detroit, will be a reporter based in Las Vegas.

Skyler Henry, most recently a correspondent for CBS Newspath in Washington, will be a correspondent based in Atlanta.

Ian Lee, who was a correspondent based in London and has reported across the Middle East, Europe and East Asia, will be a correspondent based in Kansas City.

Nicole Valdes, most recently a weather correspondent with Fox Weather, will be a correspondent based in Nashville.

Kati Weis, an investigative reporter for CBS News Colorado in Denver, will be a reporter based in New Orleans.
