CBS to Shake Up the Evening News

Years ago, CBS tried a duel anchor Evening News with Dan Rather and Connie Chung.

It failed miserably.

But now, CBS is going to try it again.

Norah O’Donnell will be gone from the anchor chair after the election and the show will be handed over to Bill Owens, the executive producer of “60 Minutes.”

The new CBS Evening News will include co-anchors John Dickerson and Maurice DuBois.

WCBS weathercaster Lonnie Quinn will handle the weather duties and “Face The Nation” moderator Margaret Brennan, be provide content as well.

Owens plan is to create a show that works to break news and offer more depth.

We have been promised more in depth newscasts before, but doing more depth takes time and money, and that is not something networks of local station want to commit to.

We’ll have to wait and see if CBS does so this time.
