Something Doesn't Add Up...

Tegna’s WHAS (Louisville) celebrated the fact that the station’s YouTube channel has passed over 200,000 subscribers.

They served up cupcakes to the staff for reaching 200K subs.

But anyone who has a YouTube channel knows that subs mean nothing and it is all about views.

Looking at the latest posts from the station or Reporters’ stories and the A-block of the newscast, look at the view count.

The most viewed video received just 252 views.

Just 252 views with 200,000 subs?

Something isn’t right on this.

Just to give you an example, I have a YouTube channel that has only 3,000 subscribers and I upload so sporadically, it’s a wonder that I get any views at all.

But look at the last 4 videos I posted.

The videos did from just over 3,000 views to just over 9,000 views and I have 197,000 less subscribers than WHAS.

While a couple of thousand views on YouTube isn’t awful, it is small potatoes in the YouTube world.

There are companies that will sell you YouTube Subscribers, but that will not up your views on your videos.

Is that what this Tegna station did?

I have no clue, but I would think with 200K subs, your videos should be pulling in more than a couple of hundred views.

But hey, the staff got cupcakes, so I’ll chalk it up as a win.

Also, if you want to subscribe to my YouTube channel, here is the link.

If I get to 10,000 subs, I will upload at least twice a week.

Oh, I’ll also invite you over for cupcakes.
