Meredith Wants you to Cough up $10,000 Bucks to Leave The Station

Take a look at this employee contract for Meredith's KTVK/KPHO (Phoenix).

It states that if an employee (on-air and off) wants to leave the station, it will cost them $10,000 bucks to do so.

A newsroom insider says that they will have to cough up the $10 G's even if they decide to change careers out of the TV industry, or even just spend more time with the family.  

Other ownership groups have penalties for breaking a contract, but this one seems particularly harsh. 

Then again it is Meredith and they will do anything for a buck.
