Will Sinclair's Conservative Slant work in Seattle?

Will Sinclair's Conservative Slant work in Seattle?

nclair is buying KOMO in Seattle and it might be like ordering Dunkin Donuts coffee in the land of Starbucks.

The conservation slant of Sinclair might not go over well in the Left Coast liberal leaning city.

The Seattle Times writes thatSinclair Broadcast Group executives said they will bring resources and stability to KOMO TV and 19 other television stations they’ll get by acquiring Seattle-based Fisher Communications.

If Sinclair’s past is any indicator, they may also bring their conservative political leanings, even to one of the most liberal cities in the country.

“The track record of Sinclair suggests that Seattle is about to get a Fox News equivalent in a local television channel,” said David Domke, acting chairman of the University of Washington School of Communication.

Former Houston Anchor Resurfaces Across the Street

Former Houston Anchor Resurfaces Across the Street

When veteran Houston sports anchor Bob Allen stepped down in January after 38 ½ years at KTRK (Channel 13), he pledged to viewers that he wasn’t retiring.

And he isn’t. Allen will join KHOU (Channel 11) on April 22 as the station’s new weekday sports anchor. His first broadcast will be April 25.

Allen will fill the vacancy left by the unexpected departure in February of KHOU sports anchor Butch Alsandor. He said a “casual conversation” with Channel 11 officials heated up in the last two weeks, culminating in Thursday’s announcement.

“I had no idea I would have the opportunity to do this. It was the farthest thing from my mind. When Butch stepped down, I didn’t even think about it,” Allen said. “But I’m recharged and energized and ready to go and looking forward to this.

CNN To Stick Tapper Repeat at 10PM

r-JAKE-TAPPER-large570.jpg

The 10PM time slot at CNN his kind of like Jeff Zucker's sand box. He plays around, builds things and then knocks down what he made and starts over.

The 10PM slot was where the repeats of Anderson Cooper's show aired. But then Zucker tried the Fox News rip off of The Five called (Get to) The Point in that slot.

The show never did get to the point and was canceled after just 4 episodes.

Now, Zuck has decided to stick a repeat of Jake Tapper's 'The Lead' in the 10:00 slot. The Lead has followed in the ratings with awful numbers and it appears the Zucker is hoping to get viewers to sample the show as it repeats at night. The Lead's live airtime is 4PM.

How long will The Lead repeat stay a 10PM? Until Zucker wants to play with something else in his sandbox.

Stay tuned...

Chris Hayes Needs to go All In

Chris Hayes Needs to go All In

The New Republic takes a closer look at MSNBC's new show 'All In with Chris Hayes" and they have some advice for the host.

Basically they say don't try and beat Fox News's Bill O'Reilly at his own game, it's a game you can't win. They write that cable news should be either fun or informative, but the danger for the frequently substantive "All In" is falling somewhere in the middle.

And they end with this advice for MSNBC and it's All In host:

Hayes' ratings during his first week were solid but unspectacular; if he wants to succeed, he should stick to substance. Bill O'Reilly couldn't host a serious show if he tried, but he is a talented showman. Hayes isn't.
