It was the Invitation We couldn't Refuse... But we Did Anyway

obama-correspondents-dinner-400-400x295__130409224310.jpg

I got a call yesterday that some people dream about getting.

I was invited to the White House Correspondents Dinner later this month.

I said "No Thank You."

Anyone that has read FTVLive over the years has known how I feel about the WH Correspondents Dinner. It used to be great.... when you know it was for correspondents.

Scott Pelley Slams Fox News

Scott Pelley Slams Fox News

We doubt Scott Pelley will be getting a Christmas card from Roger Ailes next year.

The CBS Evening News Anchor criticized his rivals in general and Fox News

in particular, while at the same time describing his own newscast as an island of calm in a sea of absurdity.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter Pelley smacks Fox News for revealing the true identity of Mark Owen (real name: Matt Bissonnette), a member of the SEALS team involved in the raid on Osama Bin Laden's compound in Pakistan, who had written a book about the raid.

David Gregory Pissed Off about Parking

David Gregory Pissed Off about Parking

NBC's David Gregory thinks he owns the road...or at least the rod in front of his house.

The “Meet the Press” host made a scene Tuesday when he lit into organizers of the D.C. Design House, located near Gregory's house. The broadcaster was distressed that visitors to the show house had parked on a nearby street, some directly in front of his home, preventing easy access by his crew.

“There are a lot of people clogging up our streets,” Gregory told us late Tuesday.

It’s hard to miss the 6-foot-5 journalist under ordinary circumstances — harder yet when he’s waving his arms and complaining loud enough for everyone nearby to hear. This all went down on the front lawn of the show house, witnessed by several designers and guests at a media preview.

Ladies...How would you have Handled it?

Ladies...How would you have Handled it?

SEX Pistols frontman Johnny Rotten lived up to his last name while doing and interview on Australian TV. Let's be blunt he was more than an asshole  to the female anchor.

The punk legend was talking about his band Public Image Ltd who are touring Down Under when Anchor Carrie Bickmore asked about his feelings for Mrs T.

Rotten told the anchor: “Hey, hey missus, shut up, whoever you are, shut up, shut up, shut up. Now listen, when a man is talking do not interrupt.”

Man Gets Jail Time for Aiming Laser at News Chopper

We're sure he thought it was funny at the time, but we doubt he's laughing now.

A Philadelphia man was sentenced Wednesday to three months in jail for aiming a laser beam at a news helicopter last summer, prosecutors said.

Daniel F. Dangler, 30, told initially denied the charge but then confessed to FBI agents he flashed a green beam toward the WTXF Fox29 helicopter on July 18. He said he didn't realize the beam would harm anyone or that it was a crime, according to the office of U.S. Attorney Zane D. Memeger.

He's also looking at a huge fine...that after the hop

Longtime Buffalo Sports Guy Leaving

Longtime Buffalo Sports Guy Leaving

WGRZ's Ed Kilgore was doing the sports in Buffalo back when FTVLive was in high school, now he's leaving the station after 40 years.

Kilgore is bolting the Gannett station after the May book to work for a company owned by Buffalo Sabres (NHL) Owner Terry Pegula.

There had been speculation that Kilgore, who relinquished the 11 p.m. sports shift to Adam Benigni more than a year and a half ago, was in his final year at the station and that Benigni would then take over the 6 p.m. shift as well by the end of the year.

Kilgore, 66, surprised Channel 2 WGRZ General Manager Jim Toellner Tuesday by telling him he had gotten an offer from Pegula’s East Management and was going to take it.

Anderson Cooper might have come out in 2012, but Rachel Maddow still has more power in the gay and lesbian world.

Out writes now king of the mountain at MSNBC, Maddow gave Fox News a run for its money during the 2012 election cycle and was nominated for an Emmy this past December, all while holding on to her loyal viewership and delivering hard-hitting criticism of the political climate. Anderson Cooper comes in at No. 5.

Facebook Troll Busted for Harassing KSDK Staffers

It always gives us a warm feeling when some Internet Troll gets exactly what he deserves.

Im St. Louis Thomas Duroso has been charged with six counts of misdemeanor harassment by the circuit attorney's office.

Duroso began posting threatening messages on several KSDK employees' Facebook pages in November, according to the circuit attorney's office. There also were obscene and threatening phone calls, authorities said. Victims were listed in court documents by initials: PM, HG, BS, JB and SD.

The situation came to a head on April 2, when authorities allege Duroso "called KSDK repeatedly and threatened that something bad will happen to the KSDK family."

WCVB has promoted JC Monahan to be co-host of "Chronicle" and has hired former rival meteorologist Cindy Fitzgibbon to take Monahan's place as meteorologist on WCVB's "EyeOpener" morning show.

Monahan, a morning weather reporter for eight years, will start co-hosting "Chronicle" with Anthony Everett in June. Monahan will also continue to make appearances on EyeOpener and take on additional news responsibilities at WCVB, the local ABC affiliate.

Fitzgibbon has forecast the weather for 17 years and spent the last decade as a meteorologist in WFXT Boston, the local Fox affiliate. WCVB President Bill Fine said Fitzgibbon is returning to TV after taking six months off to be with her family. "The timing was incredibly fortunate for NewsCenter 5 and Chronicle, as this is a true perfect match in every way," Fine said.

Everyone Loves Hoda (Well Except Kathie Lee)

Everyone Loves Hoda (Well Except Kathie Lee)

If I was Savannah Guthrie, I might be a bit worried as to what is going on at Today.

Hoda Kotb is on her third day sitting next to Ann Curry Executioner Matt Lauer and it looks like people love the chemistry between Matt and Hoda.

FTVLive has gotten a number of emails about the pairing and they all are positive towards the Hoda/Matt team.

"Why doesn't NBC wake up and realize that Lauer and Hoda is the team they have been looking for?" said one emailer to FTVLive.

You can also turn to Twitter and find that the Matt and Hoda love is well in bloom.

Social Media Wins Again over Old Media....Again

But if you were on Instagram at the time, you likely saw a picture of the Lone Star Stabber before the TV stations even got to the scene.
