WCBS Reporter Headed Back to School

WCBS Reporter Sean Hennessey is ankling his way out the door at WCBS in New Yourk.

 But Hennessey isn't headed for another job in TV news, he's going back to college. Not to study, but to teach. 

FishbowlNY reports he's headed to Boston College, which makes sense for the BC graduate. He got his B.A. in English in 1987 at the Chestnut Hill campus, according to his LinkedIn page.

NBC Boss: The Today Show Got Too Complacent

Today Show boss Matt Lauer isn't the only one that thinks the NBC morning show has lost its swagger.​

The real NBC boss thinks so as well. ​

Patricia Fili-Krushel, the new chairman of the NBCUniversal News Group, which includes not only NBC News but also cable channels MSNBC and CNBC.

In one of her first interviews since taking the job last July, Fili-Krushel acknowledges to the LA Times that the network mishandled the Vieira-Curry-Guthrie transition. But she added that even without that fiasco the show had become too complacent and protective of its No. 1 perch.

​Word is that WGN in Chicago may be tacking on another hour to their morning newscast.

Word is the station will add the hour from 9 to 10am Monday through Friday.

Robert Feder says that nothing is official as of yet, but insiders say that’s the most likely scenario this fall when the syndicated Live with Kelly & Michael leaves the Tribune Broadcasting station.

Tucson Sources tell FTVLive that KGUN has parted ways with News Director Forest Carr.​

This was Carr's second go round at the station. He ran the news department from September 1997 to March of 2001, which worked out to 3 years and 7 months.​

He left KGUN for a couple of gigs in Florida and then returned to Tucson has ND in September of 2009.

He was bounced yesterday, which means on his second go round at the station he lasted exactly ​3 years and 7 months. 

Spooky eh?​

Former Anchor Cleared on Domestic Violence Charges

Former Anchor Michael Scott ​was found not guilty of the misdemeanor charge of Domestic Violence yesterday. 

Prosecutors had said Scott's estranged girlfriend reported that he had choked her, hit her in an eye and ripped off two fake fingernails while threatening her in a November incident.

Scott denied the accusations and said the woman made up the incident. Yesterday, the Jury agreed and found him not guilty. 

Scott has worked in television news at two stations in Omaha and at stations in Dallas and Denver and in Huntsville, Alabama.

​He also ran for Congress in 1998.

Anderson Cooper: Being Gay is a Blessing

​Anderson Cooper said that "being gay is a blessing" and he "couldn't be more proud" of his sexuality.

​The Huffington Post writes that theCNN anchor spoke at length about coming out

 both personally and professionally, being honored with the prestigious Vito Russo Award and the pain of his brother's suicide. 

"I've always known I was gay from the time I was a little kid," Cooper, who came out in an email to Andrew Sullivan last summer, recalled. "I can't remember a time when I wasn't aware of it, even before I knew what it was or the name of it."

Working as a TV Critic at a newspaper, is like sitting on death row. You just never know when their going to kill you.​

As newspapers watch circulation numbers shrink, more and more people in the industry are laid off, or offered a buyout.​ Many papers are looking at the TV critic as more of a luxury than a necessity.

This whole internet "fad" is lasting much longer than the newspapers thought. ​

The latest TV critic to leave a paper ​is Washington Post's Lisa De Moraes. She's out the door at the end of May.

ABC's Stephanopoulos to sit down with Obama

​President Barack Obama will go one on one with George Stephanopoulos, anchor of "Good Morning America" and "This Week," in an exclusive interview.

The interview comes as the President is initiating conversations with Republican lawmakers to help avert another budget showdown later this month. Last week the President hosted a dinner with 12 Republican lawmakers, a lunch with House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan and Rep. Chris Van Hollen, the committee's ranking Democrat. This week he is expected to continue courting lawmakers by traveling to Capitol Hill to meet with both Republican and Democratic lawmakers. 

An excerpt of Stephanopoulos' exclusive interview will air Tuesday on "World News with Diane Sawyer" at 6:30 p.m., ET. The full interview will air WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13 on "Good Morning America" at 7:00 a.m., ET and later that night on "Nightline" at 12:35 a.m., ET. Former Orlando Reporter Headed to Little Rock

WFTV in Orlando parted ways with Reporter Drew Petrimoulx back in January.

Petrimoulx is about to land on his feet at in Little Rock.

Petrimoulx is headed to work for the duopoly of NBC affiliate KARK and Fox affiliate KLRT.

‘One reason I’m going is because it’s the state capital, and I have the chance to report on politics,” said Petrimoulx, 28. ”The concentration on politics drew me there.”
