Here is what the Number 1 News Magazine has on tap for this week:

THE LIFE AND DEATH OF CLAY HUNT – More active duty military died last year from suicide than in combat.  The number of veterans who die by their own hand is also alarmingly high.   Byron Pitts reports on Clay Hunt, a Marine combat veteran who was wounded in battle and later diagnosed with PTSD and depression.  Hunt tried to help other veterans struggling with illness and the experiences of war, but lost his own battle and committed suicide.  David Schneider is the producer.

CHINA’S REAL ESTATE MOGUL – One of the richest self-made billionaire women in the world, Zhang Xin is one of China’s largest developers of office space, whose boldly designed skyscrapers have created signature skylines in Beijing. Xin speaks to Lesley Stahl about her business empire, her country, and its prospects.  Shachar Bar-On is the producer.

CHINA’S REAL ESTATE BUBBLE – Real estate, especially residential, has been one of the driving forces of the hot Chinese economy.  But now a bubble has been created that could lead to a debt crisis many fear could bring the world’s second largest economy to a standstill.  Lesley Stahl reports. Shachar Bar-On is the producer.

Cleveland Stations Blows Out NBC Prime Time for 20 Year old Matlock Episode

WKYC in Cleveland blew out NBC's Thursday Prime Time lineup and ran a 20 year old episode of Matlock.

No surprise it did just as well as NBC's shows.

Gawker writes that Andy Griffith, who passed away last July, was unceremoniously absent from this year's Oscars "In Memoriam" tribute, so NBC's Cleveland affiliate WKYC-TV decided to make it up to him by giving Matlock most of their Thursday primetime block.

Are Matt Lauer's Days Number at Today?

Are Matt Lauer's Days Number at Today?

Matt Lauer was the one time darling of the Today Show.

Not anymore...

No matter how it happened, many believe that Lauer is the reason Ann Curry got bounced from the Today Show. Which would have been no big deal if the ratings went up after she left.

They went the other way and now Matt Lauer could face the same fate as Curry.

A former NBC executive tells the NY Daily News that as the former number one morning show slips into third place locally (and New York is the most vital U.S. market), replacing Matt Lauer is now seriously on the table.

Am I a Blogger?

blog-2-300x199.jpg

The other day a website wrote a story about me and they said "Blogger Scott Jones...."

Huh?! What?! I'm a Blogger?!

Really?

After working 20+ years in TV News, I always just thought of myself as a Journalist. I moved from TV to the Internet, but I was still just reporting the news.

I always looked at Bloggers as the people that sat on a computer in their Mom's basement and argued which was better Star Trek or Star Wars?

I have never even seen Star Trek or Star Wars....any of them. So how could I be a Blogger?

When the rating book is over, it's time to have a drink. But you might not want to drive after you tie one on.

Sheriff's Dept. Say Search for "Missing" Anchor was Justified

The curious case of the “missing” Santa Barbara TV anchor who was safe and sound all along has catapulted Paula Lopez from the screens of a local TV  Newscast to the national spotlight.

Radar Online says that  panicked phone call reporting that the 48-year-old television personality had vanished on Wednesday immediately sparked a full emergency search, despite her having been seen earlier in the day, because her worried family considered her to be “at risk,” a spokesperson from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department reveals, insisting that Lopez did not receive any preferential treatment.
