That Didn't Take Long
/**UPDATE**
After posting this AM's story, sources emailed FTVLive to tell us that the 'new' role of managing editor for Paul Button, is actually a demotion from Assistant ND. Sources tell us Button was told to accept the M.E. position, or leave.
THIS. Is CBS.
______
FTVLive was the FIRST to tell you that KCBS/Kcal had parted ways with longtime Managing Editor Pete Wilgoren.
Well it sure did not take long for the station to replace him. FTVLive has obtained an internal email sent out by KCBS/KCAL News Director Bill Dallman to the staff.
Dallamn announces, not only a new ME hire, but a new Deuce hire as well.
Here is the internal memo:
I’m pleased to announce the addition of Tara Finestone as Assistant News Director of KCBS – KCAL. She will be joining us starting Monday, July 11.
Tara brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our news management team, having worked in both local and network television for more than two decades. Most recently, she was an Executive Producer at KTLA-5, where she managed the afternoon newscasts from 1pm all the way through 6:30pm. She designed the recent newscast additions for KTLA at 2pm and 3pm and supervised a relaunch of the KTLA website.
Prior to KTLA, Tara was a supervising producer for the national cable network Current TV, where she managed a team of producers and segment producers here in Los Angeles.
Tara’s extensive experience in the Los Angeles television market began at NBC News and KNBC-4, where she worked for nearly nine years in various capacities with the network and the local station. Tara has also been a producer in Seattle, Salt Lake City and Spokane and is a graduate of the University of Washington with a B.A. in communication and media studies.
With her experience in leading news teams in our market, her ability to envision and launch new programs, her innovation in special projects and her attention to journalistic principles and ethics, Tara will provide our newsroom with a unique strategic vision and competitive edge as we move to the future.
We are excited to be adding Tara to our team and equally pleased that Paul Button will be taking on a role for which he is extremely well suited. As our new Managing Editor of KCBS – KCAL News, Paul will continue to be a key leader in our newsroom and on my management team. Paul is one of the most experienced and exceptional journalists we have, and we look forward to continuing to count on him to make sure we’re on top of breaking news and providing fair, accurate and balanced coverage to our viewers.
Please join me in welcoming Tara and congratulating Paul.
