Statement from KIRO

KIRO in Seattle released this statement in regards to the deadly crash of the KOMO News Chopper:

"We are saddened by the loss of life in this morning’s helicopter accident at KOMO-TV. At a moment like this, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who were killed this morning.

Effective immediately, KIRO7’s helicopter has been grounded. We have no reason to believe that there’s anything wrong with our chopper, but we are taking this action out of an abundance of caution.

KIRO staff has spoken to news managers at both KOMO and KING, which share the helicopter, and have offered to assist them in coverage of this terrible accident."
