You Get Paid in Sunshine

I remember when I took my first TV job in Florida and it paid just $15,000 a year. The boss at the time, said, “Here in Florida, you get paid in sunshine.”

But, after moving to the Sunshine State, I learned that “sunshine” didn’t pay the rent, food, or electric bill, and I found myself making trips to the local pawn shop, just to makes ends meet.

Here’s a job at Fox O&O WTVT in Tampa for an MMJ. This is a top 15 market and the pay starts at $58K a year. $58K might be the number for a mid-market station, but this is a top market.

I guess, Florida stations are still paying in sunshine.
