The Blade Swings in Tucson

You have to love a memo from the GM that says, “You are valued team members…” as it talks about putting people out of work.

This is the internal memo that went out to the staff at KGUN in Tucson.

KGUN 9,

Thank you to those of you who were able to attend the 11:30am zoom call that addressed the difficult conversations Leeza and I had in notifying some of your co-workers their positions have been eliminated and their last day will be April 3, 2025.

The media industry is in a state of continued disruption. As stewards of KGUN 9, we are tasked each day with serving our communities and audiences, however the financial stresses on our industry, Scripps and KGUN 9 have resulted in the need to reduce positions. Our intent is and has been to create connection in the community through neighborhood news. We will continue our mission, while also putting KGUN 9 in a durable position allowing us to fulfill our mission.

I know that during the next four weeks, you’ll showcase your tremendous support, respect and dignity toward our co-workers that have been impacted.

If you should have questions, please reach out to Leeza or myself.

You are valued team members, and we greatly appreciate the work you have contributed both individually and collectively.

 Sincerely,
Tregg
