Tampa News Crew On Board Plane when it Collided

When two planes collided on the runway in Atlanta, a crew from Scripps-owned WFTS was on the scene.

Forget on the scene, they were on one of the planes.

WFTS Meteorologist Jason Adams and at least one other from the station were on board the Endeavor Bombardier as it collided with a Delta flight.

The crew was traveling to Lafayette, Louisiana, to help KATC, with hurricane coverage.

"The next thing you know, we hear metal scaring loud, like banging, like almost a tire popping sounds," Adams recounted. "Within about 15 seconds, done, and we're all just sitting there after people were screaming. It literally was that jarring that people were screaming like we were involved in like a significant crash or something."
