Fox News Parroting Trump Doesn't Go Well
/You may have heard Donald Trump’s false claim that shoplifters are going into stores in California with calculators to steal stuff up to $950.
Trump claims that the shoplifters can steal up to $950, and they can walk out with nothing happening to them.
That is not true. The $950 dollar mark is when the crime moves from misdemeanor to felony.
Fox News host Bret Baier decided to parrot Trump and put this question to Ca. Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Newsom added some context to the issue. Something you won’t hear from Trump or Fox News.
Newsom: It’s the tenth toughest threshold in the US meaning you can steal $950 worth of goods and it will be charged as a misdemeanor. You can steal $2500 in Texas. Why you’re not focusing on those other 40 states is beyond me pic.twitter.com/PJaBXiDKbL

We looked up the top states that allow a higher dollar value than California when it comes to shoplifting.
These states are both blue and Red, but you’ll never hear this information on Fox News. It goes against the narrative.
