Former Reporter/Anchor Pleads Guilty to Wire Fraud and Money Laundering

Gray’s WSFA (Montgomery) reported that an area woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to stealing nearly $2 million from the federal government’s COVID-19 relief programs, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Tametria Conner Dantzler, 39, pleaded guilty to wire fraud and money laundering charges related to loans she got through the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security, or CARES Act, and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan, or EIDL program.

Dantzler faces a sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison, plus an order of restitution to her victims. A sentencing hearing has not yet been set.

At the bottom of the story, the Gray station adds, “WSFA 12 News previously employed Dantzler as an on-air reporter from 2011-14 under the name Tametria Conner.”
