Gray Television Leadership Needs to Look Up

It is frustrating when someone is hired by a station and then is laid off by the station a few months, a few years, or many years into that job.

The person that got sacked not for anything that they did, but because the leadership at the station and the company did pay attention.

You see someone get hired by the General Manager, or the News Director, cuts are then made, but guess what? The GM and News Director still have a job.

But, when you are talking about Gray Television, it’s even worse.

Gray TV might be the most top-heavy media company I have ever seen.

Please go to the leadership page on the Gray Television website and start scrolling.

But before you click the link, how many people do you think are listed in the Gray leadership?

Would you guess more than 10 people?

How about more than 20 or 30?

There can’t be more than 50….right?

You will see that the leadership at Gray is made up of 75 people.

75!

The company has so many Vice Presidents; it’s mind-blowing!

As Gray is cutting people, making 40K, they have 12 regional vice presidents who, I’m sure, are making well over six figures.

I’m sure that Gray could easily afford to lose one or two of the regional vice presidents. They could consolidate the roles of vice president of internal reporting and vice president of external reporting and save the jobs of two Journalists.

Gray is cutting jobs at the bottom when they need to look at the top.
