More on Cutting by Gray TV

The Gray cuts have hit Western Massachusetts viewers in a big way.

The issue here is the fact that Gray doesn’t run just one station in the market or even two stations. Gray has control of three stations: The ABC affiliate, the Fox affiliate, and the CBS affiliate.

They brand the tri as Western Mass News.

But thanks to Gray, there will be a lot less news.

All the weekend newscasts have been eliminated, and the morning show got a huge cut. Gray has trimmed the morning newscasts from 4:30 AM to 9 AM all the way back to just 7 AM to 9 AM.

On their website, about no weekend newscasts, the station says, “For our Saturday night lineup, viewers can look forward to Investigate TV+ during our 6:00 p.m., 10:00 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. time periods. On Sundays, Getting Answers, hosted by Dave Madsen, will air at 6:00 p.m. on ABC40 and CBS 3. At 10:00 p.m. (FOX 6) and 11:00 p.m. (ABC40 and CBS 3), our locally produced Getting Answers series will deliver an in-depth, 30-minute segment focused on issues that matter most to you.”

Let’s be honest: they care about money, NOT YOU.

The last line they post says, “The Western Mass News team remains committed to providing you with trustworthy news coverage and accurate First Alert Weather, day after day. Thank you for choosing us as your go-to source for reliable information in Western Massachusetts.”

Ha! “Trustworthy news coverage and accurate First Alert Weather, day after day,” as long as it isn’t on the weekends or early morning.

I hate seeing media companies making cuts, but I hate when they try and bullshit viewers even more.

Shame on Gray.
