Viewers Pissed At Nexstar Station's Decision

When No. 2 Ohio State took on undefeated No. 5 Indiana, viewers in Lexington were excited to watch the game.

But Nexstar’s WDKY had other plans.

Instead of broadcasting one of the biggest games of the year in college football, they decided to air several high school basketball exhibition games.

Viewers lit up the station’s phone line and the Nexstar station ended up giving viewers a recorded message, “Fox 56 is committed to covering classrooms and athletics across the Bluegrass,” the message stated. “Saturday’s Fox 56 Home Team Showcase highlights girls and boys basketball teams across Central Kentucky. Plans for the 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. live showcase have been in the works since May. It will preempt the recently announced Ohio State vs. Indiana college football game.”

I would bet the house that the Nexstar station made a lot more in local sales for the basketball games than the top college game. I promise you, this was all about money.
Viewers voiced their displeasure.

BTW- Ohio State kicked Indiana’s ass. Go Bucks!
