Off the Air in Omaha

Gray’s WOWT (Omaha) was knocked off air and it impacted the newscasts.

The station posted to their website that a A water main break near the station was to blame for the outage.

WOWT says that the break had, “led to an emergency electrical situation that has had a major effect on our ability to air our newscasts.”

The station went dark when the data center was impacted.

“Unfortunately, these issues left us unable to air our 5 and 6:30 p.m. newscasts. But we are able to keep our audience updated online…” the station said on their site.

The problem did not end there. “When our signal went dark, many of our streaming services automatically switched to another feed as opposed to showing dead air. We’re working to correct that as well,” WOWT said.

I guess when it rains, it pours.
