Out the Door in Des Moines

Legendary KCCI assignment editor Tom Torpy has just announced his retirement from the station. 

Torpy is well known in newsrooms all across the Midwest.  All one had to say was "call Torpy" or "Torpy says.." and everyone knew who they were talking about. 

He was a legendary presence in the KCCI newsroom for years. 

Sadly, as the news business changes, in recent years, for the most part, Torpy had been relegated to video editor by news management.

Now he’s calling it quits.
