Adios in Atlanta.... *

John Deushane, a prominent figure in Atlanta's broadcasting industry, is set to retire from his role as the general manager at Tegna’s WXIA.

After a 13-year run at the station, Deushane announced his retirement in a heartfelt memo sent to the staff on Tuesday. His departure is scheduled for August 4th.

In his memo, Deushane reflected on his extensive broadcasting career, quoting the walrus from Lewis Carroll's "The Walrus and the Carpenter": "As the walrus said, after 47 years in broadcasting, the time has come." He expressed his gratitude for the rewarding experience he had during his tenure at 11Alive, attributing its success to the passionate and dedicated professionals he had the privilege to work with.

Deushane's 13-year run as general manager at WXIA is regarded as one of the longest in the Atlanta market. Although the station faced challenges in ratings, consistently trailing behind the leading WSB and WAGA.

The search for Deushane's replacement is currently underway, and the station has yet to announce his successor.
