Man Barricades Himself at TV Station

A man claiming to have a bomb barricaded himself inside the lobby at WWMT (Kalamazoo).

WWMT’s chief engineer made the first contact with the suspect, who initially claimed to have a news tip, but then implied he had a bomb in his backpack.

The suspect forced his way through the first door of the WWMT when the chief engineer quickly locked the second door and barricaded the suspect inside the lobby.

"Many of these instances are happening in churches and schools and unfortunately today, we are one of those victims," WWMT General Manager Fred Corbus said.

The suspect surrendered to police after officers brought him food to eat.
