Petition Launched Against Sinclair
/FTVLive told you that Sinclair screwed over the news staff at KTUL in Tulsa in a giant cost-cutting move.
Sinclair is basically shutting down KTUL’s news and will have the newscasts anchored and produced from 125 miles away in Oklahoma City. KOKH will produce KTUL’s newscasts.
Employees have launched an online petition, writing an open letter to Sinclair CEO Chris Ripley.
Dear Mr. Ripley,
We trust this message finds you amidst a reckoning with the glaring issues contributing to the rapid disintegration of public trust in Sinclair Broadcast Group. The recent wave of layoffs and the persistent specter of corporate greed have catalyzed an irreversible erosion of confidence in our organization.
The public perceives a stark disconnection between the executive echelons of Sinclair and the dedicated news workers affected by the recent layoffs. This chasm of disparity has become a breeding ground for disillusionment, undermining the very foundation upon which our organization stands.
To salvage what remains of our integrity, I urge you to confront these issues head-on:
1. **Immediate Layoff Reevaluation:**
- Initiate an unblemished review of the recent layoffs, acknowledging the profound impact on employees and the corrosive effect on public perception.
2. **Overhaul Compensation Practices:**
- Undertake a radical shift in compensation practices to quell suspicions of executive excess and restore a semblance of fairness to our workforce.
3. **Transparent Communication Strategy:**
- Establish a robust and transparent communication strategy to openly address the concerns of the public and rekindle faith in the ethical direction of Sinclair Broadcast Group.
The stakes are dire, and the public's trust is in freefall. The onus lies heavily on your shoulders to not only acknowledge these issues but to take immediate, comprehensive action to salvage what is left of our credibility.
The clock is ticking, Mr. Ripley. The future of Sinclair Broadcast Group depends on a resolute commitment to ethical leadership and a genuine reconnection with the values we once upheld.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this critical matter.
Sincerely,
On behalf of the collective voices of the KTUL and KOKH staff
The only problem here is Chris Ripley doesn’t care about the people impacted, he cares about the balance sheet and noting more.
