ABC Intern Job Pays More Per Hour Than Nexstar is paying Producers and MMJs

FTVLive continues to hear from people that are reacting to the embarrassing low pay being offered up by the Nexstar stations.

We got this email from a former Nexstar employee, who also pointed out that an Intern job at WABC is offering almost $7 more per hour than Nexstar is paying Producers and MMJs.

Email:

Thank you for posting about Nexstar’s salaries.

While most tv companies are paying embarrassingly low salaries now, I can only speak from personal experience about how awful my experience at a Nexstar station was making little money, being overworked, all while watching Uncle Perry send bags of cash to his lazy NewsNation hacks…and into his own back pocket.

We wonder why TV news is in such a state. I echo the comments left…you get what you pay for, and alas, the industry is now paying for wannabe influencers to flaunt their dancing, singing, and string bikinis on social.

Even an ABC intern makes more than a lot of reporters in small markets now. I left the industry for all of these reasons, but missed it and now I’m back.

I’m lucky to be working at a great shop, but overall, the industry is in worse shape than I’ve ever seen it.

It’s sad.

I hope the higher ups begin paying journalists what they deserve before it’s too late. Our democracy needs real news more than ever.
