Cox/Apollo Stations Sold As Deal Goes Through

The deal is done….

Back in March, FTVLive told you that Cox/Apollo was looking to dump stations in a dozen markets to a company named Imagicomm Communications.

The deal has gone through and now the Cox/Apollo stations in Memphis and in Tusla, along with a number of smaller stations are no longer owned by Cox/Apollo.

WHBQ (Memphis) and KOKI (Tulsa) were the biggest stations that were cast aside by Cox.

Apollo Is looking to raise some funds as it plans to buy a number of Texas stations as part of the Tegna, Standard General deal.

Apollo is set to acquire the old Belo cluster after the FCC signs off on the Tegna deal.

Imagicomm Communications which now owns the Cox/Apollo stations that were dumped by the company is the spin-off of cable network INSP. This is the first time the company has owned any broadcast stations.

These are the stations that are now under the ownership of Imagicomm Communications:

  • Alexandria, LA — KLAX (ABC)

  • Binghamton, NY — WICZ (Fox)

  • Eureka, CA — KIEM (NBC)/KVIQ-LD (CBS)

  • Greenwood, MS — WABG (ABC-Fox)/WNBD (NBC)/WXVT (CBS)

  • Idaho Falls, ID — KPVI (NBC)

  • Medford, OR — KMVU (Fox)/KFBI-LD (MNT)

  • Memphis, TN — WHBQ (Fox)

  • Spokane, WA — KAYU (Fox)

  • Syracuse, NY — WSYT (Fox)

  • Tulsa, OK — KOKI (Fox)/KMYT (MNT)

  • Yakima, WA — KCYU-LD (Fox)/KFFX (Fox)

  • Yuma, AZ — KYMA (CBS)

What happens to these stations and the people that work there is anyone's guess as this is basically a new company with no track record to look back on.

If I was working at one of these stations, I think I would have my resume up to date and I would not be buying the green bananas.

Just saying….
