Done in DC
/Word is that Tony Perkins has left Tegna’s WUSA in DC.
Perkins joined the Tegna station in early 2020 and in early 2021 he replaced comedian Reese Waters on the 6AM version of Get Up DC.
The one-time Good Morning America host had worked at WTTG for years before leaving and moving over to the Tegna station.
Perkins recently took a vacation and when it was time to return, he said that he had come down with COVID and continued to miss working on the morning program.
On Thursday, the WUSA news team was told that Perkins was done and his bio was scrubbed from the station’s website.
Perkins continues to work as a sidekick on the Donnie Simpson radio show in DC.
He still has WUSA listed in his Twitter bio and has made no mention of his exit.
