Conflict of Interest?

Tawnya Bach is the morning anchor at KOAM in Joplin, MO. She also has a side hustle as the owner of the bar the Dirty Mule.”

While it is understandable that with the low-paying TV news business, some people feel the need for a side hustle, and that is fine.

But, what is not fine is when the two jobs collide.

Bach interviewed a singer on the morning newscast and the same singer was performing at her bar later that night.

This is a conflict of interest.

Did she get a better rate for the band, because she gave him a free plug on the newscast?

If this guy is newsworthy, why not have someone else interview him in an effort not to have a conflict?

It doesn’t really end there either.

Back posted a video of her taking a shot at the bar, while also in engaging in a pillow fight, while adding music that drops the F-bomb all over the place.

I’m not sure this is the image any station wants to project with their anchor.

Just saying….
