Why are the Fox O&O's Called "The Firm"?

I got an email from an FTVLive reader that asked me why the Fox O&O’s are referred to as “The Firm.”

You see FTVLive often refer to the Fox O&O’s as “The Firm” and a number of other TV blogs do so as well.

So, why is that?

Way back in 2016 (hard to believe it was that long ago) FTVLive wrote a story about how working at a Fox O&O is just like the 1993 movie that starred Tom Cruise.

Cruise played a young lawyer who joins a prestigious law firm only to discover that it has a sinister dark side.

It is really uncanny how the Fox O&O’s are so much like the fictional law firm depicted in the movie.

You can read FTVLive’s story from 2016 at this link.

What is interesting, is how other blogs often call the Fox stations “The Firm” but have never given credit to FTVLive that coined the name.

Many people in the TV industry refer to the Fox stations as “The Firm” and didn’t even realize where the origin comes from?

I was talking to a 22-year-old on the phone that called Fox “The Firm” and I asked her how she came up with that term?

She replied that is what everyone calls it, but she had no idea that it was FTVLive that came up with that.

So, after getting that email, I thought I would revisit the origin of “The Firm and as Paul Harvey would say, “Now you know the REST of the story.”

Wait? Who’s Paul Harvey?
