Maddow Torpedoes Keith Olbermann's Return to MSNBC
/Keith Olbermann, the GOAT in getting fired claimed that he was in talks with NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell and news boss Cesar Conde to return to MSNBC and take over Rachel Maddow’s 9 p.m. time slot, according to the Daily Beast.
Maddow is on hiatus and is expected to leave the 9 PM time slot altogether later this year.
But, it appears that Maddow is the one that nixed Olbermann’s possible return to MSNBC.
Maddow stepped in personally to veto him as her successor, according to the Daily Beast.
“I offered to have her production company ‘produce’ the show. Would give her some proxy control and a f–kton of money but she and [former MSNBC boss-turned-consultant to Maddow’s production company] Phil Griffin refused,” Olbermann told the Daily Beast, claiming that the network also offered him a show in 2016.
“I do not expect to continue negotiations with the successors to this management team,” he added. “Management is worse than asleep at the switch.”
FTVLive has gone many rounds with Olbermann and has exchanged a number of emails. He is a gifted writer, but no matter what, eventually, he is going to go off the rails.
But, honestly, I miss the guy and he could always be counted on for interesting content.
I say, bring back Olby….
