NBC to Hang Onto 10PM Time Slot

Well, there goes that prime newscast slot…

NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell has confirmed that the network will not be dropping the 10 PM hour in the 2023-24 broadcast season, despite previous reports suggesting that the network was considering it as a cost-cutting measure.

The 10 PM hour is considered prime real estate for drama programming and a potential exit from the time slot would have had a significant impact on the network's procedural franchises, including One Chicago and Law & Order.

While NBC is reportedly looking for new procedurals, it is also seeking new takes on the genre, such as the upcoming Nkechi Okoro Carroll drama Found.

In addition to drama, NBC is also looking for successors to hit shows This Is Us and New Amsterdam, as well as more multi-camera comedies and The Office-like workplace comedies. The network is also interested in lower-cost co-productions for Syfy, with budgets as low as $500,000 per episode.
