More NBC Buyouts
/NBC continues to push seasoned Journalists to the door in an effort to save money.
A combined 64 years at KNSD (San Diego) is walking out the door.
San Diego/KNSD, Reporters Rory Devine and Artie Ojeda are retiring at the end of the year.
Devine, who began her career at NBC 7 in 1984, has filled many roles at the station, including specialized reporting on education.
Ojeda, a San Diego native, has been with NBC 7 since 1996 and has covered virtually every major news event in the city.
Both reporters have received numerous awards and accolades, including Emmys and induction into the NATAS Silver Circle, and have served as mentors to many in the newsroom.
"Rory and Artie set the bar for great reporting in San Diego," said Greg Dawson, Vice President of News at NBC 7. "They've been more than just coworkers; they are our good friends and simply cannot be replaced."
But, they will be replaced at some point by much younger and much cheaper people.
