The New Guy in Memphis
/Back in May, FTVLive told you how WHBQ Chief Meteorologist Joey Sulipek posted a racist message on social media.
The station took a long time to do it, but they finally sent Sulipek packing.
About 7 months later, WHBQ finally got around to naming Sulipek’s replacement.
Andrew Humphrey started this week as the station’s new Chief Meteorologist.
“Our community is extraordinarily fortunate. They are about to be served with lifesaving weather information by one of the best scientists in the business,” said FOX13 News Director Randy Wardell.
Before coming to Memphis, Humphrey spent the past 20 years as a Meteorologist & Station Scientist at WDIV in Detroit.
“I’m proud to have the opportunity to lead such an amazing weather team. It’s a privilege to be invited into the homes of Memphis and Mid-South families to present precise weather stories that prepare them -- not scare them -- during times of severe weather.” Humphrey said.
