A number of people have told FTVLive that Scripps has issued a hiring freeze.

But, at the same time, Scripps seems to be making new hires.

One Scripps News Director tells FTVLive that it appears to be a “soft freeze”. “You have to explain why you need to fill the job and get approval before posting,” the ND said.

Other media companies appear to be doing pretty much the same thing. With 2023 not being an election year, stations are starting to scream “poor”. Of course, this happens every odd-numbered year.

Stations pulled in millions of dollars in 2022 thanks to the most expensive midterm election in history.

But now, they claim to be poor.

It really is like a broken record.
