24 Hour News Channel Launched

It happened fairly quietly, but using their TV stations across Florida, Scripps has launched a 24 Hour News streaming channel that they call Florida 24 Network.

“The free Florida 24 Network is a statewide news channel covering important stories that impact residents living in Florida. From award-winning journalists in Tampa, Miami, Orlando, Jacksonville, Ft. Myers, West Palm Beach, Tallahassee and more, we're streaming 24/7 with headlines, breaking news and in-depth reporting. It is owned and operated by the E.W. Scripps Company— the nation's fourth-largest local TV broadcaster, serving communities with quality, objective local journalism.” Scripps writes on the Florida 24 Network website.

“Florida 24 Network is available free to consumers 24 hours a day. Florida 24 Network is a news service that covers important stories with teams of journalists focused on issues ranging from consumer affairs to state-wide projects to holding those in power accountable with fact-based reporting.” the website adds.

Scripps is using its Florida stations for content.

The company has the state fairly well covered with a couple of big holes in both Jacksonville and Orlando.

It’s a smart move by Scripps to continue to grow in the streaming space. But, Florida 24 needs to offer up more than just rehashed packages which is what we saw when we watched.

But, we’ll keep watching to see how the company grows this streaming channel.
