New York Stations Dropped The Ball of Flooding

An employee at a New York City station was very frustrated at how the stations in the Big Apple covered the historic flooding.

The staffer that works at an O&O emailed FTVLive with their take on the matter.

Here is that email:

“Almost no live coverage from 8-11pm when the flooding began. Virtually zero prime time interruptions, save for a tornado warning in The Bronx. And only WCBS stayed on past 11:35 as the flooding intensified! TV stations abandoned viewers and had a dereliction of duty last night. We are responsible for countless lives lost because we did not do our FCC-mandated jobs.

As I sit here this morning, 14 people have died in the NYC Tri-State area. More have likely passed away. I am truly shocked at the lack of leadership across the board at every broadcast station. Putting summer reruns ahead of life-saving alerts in some cases? As a Texan, I am appalled, heartbroken, angry, and dismayed at what I saw last night. This was preventable.

Lives were lost, and every NYC TV station has blood on its hands.”
