Ready Or Not...News Nation to Launch Morning Show

Nexstar’s News Nation is set to launch their new morning show next week and insiders think it’s really not ready for air.

“The launch of NewsNation’s “Morning In America” has been something,” said one NN insider.

Early this month, sources tell FTVLive that the News Nation management was still trying to find two of the four main players.

Former ABC News Anchor Adrienne Bankert has been tapped to front the show and Sloane Glass will be handling the entertainment beat on the show.

But, as for a Weather Anchor it has been a struggle. Sources tell FTVLive that News Nation tried to land talented WCCB (Charlotte) Met Derek James to handle the weather duties, but word is he was hesitant about coming aboard. Not that anyone could blame him.

News Nation management also held a conference call with Nexstar station News Directors and floated the idea of having the local weather people take time out of their schedule to provide the forecasts for News Nation.

Needless to say, not many of the Nexstar News Directors seemed very excited about farming out their talent.

We hear that NN bosses also had an idea to have a Steve Kornacki-type to break down the news on a big board. Finding someone to fill this spot has also been difficult according to sources.

“Experienced people who are solid just aren’t willing to pick up and move to Chicago for something that they aren’t sure will work or last,” a News Nation insider said to FTVLive, “The launch should have been delayed but instead a product will be rushed to air,” they added.

Stay tuned…..
