We Call Bullshit...

A couple of weeks ago, a report surfaced in The Daily Beast that Rachel Maddow might be looking to leave MSNBC at the end of her contract.

FTVLive didn’t buy it and saw it as a long used negotiation ploy used by Maddow’s people to try and make NBC sweat a bit.

It obviously worked, as just days later MSNBC and Maddow came to an agreement on a new deal.

Now, the Daily Beast scoops that Maddow’s new deal is worth $30 million bucks a year.

I don’t buy that either.

In today’s times, salaries in TV are going down and not up.

At the top of his game, NBC was paying Matt Lauer just north of $20 million bucks to host 3 hours a day on NBC’s Today show.

You’re telling me that now NBC is paying Maddow millions more to do a show on cable?

Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb are making around $10 million bucks. Maddow is getting $10 million more than both of them combined?

No way.

Again, this seems to be a ploy by Maddow’s new talent agency. Maddow signed with the massive talent agency Endeavor to hammer out this deal.

If you believe the reports, Maddow is getting $30 million bucks from MSNBC and will be working less. Her nightly show on the cable net is said to be going away sometime next year.

But, while we don’t buy that Maddow is making $30 million a year for even a second, the story is out there.

Now high-priced, big ego talent will see that and maybe look to use the same agency that Maddow Is using?

The numbers may be inflated, but it is great press for a massive talent agency that is filled with bigger egos than what you see on TV.

But, before you ask your boss to pay you Racheal Maddow money, I will bet you even she isn’t making what is being reported.

It’s all part of the game.
