The Inbox...

Let’s take a peak into the old Inbox and see what you guys are saying….

This email is in regards to yesterday’s Patron story about KCBS.

Email:

Scott,

You can't imagine how glad everyone is about your latest post.

Just like any boiling tea kettle, the pressure has been building and the time has come for things to finally get exposed.

We've been sounding the alarm about current management's style for ages and it's mostly fallen on deaf ears with promises of changes in the near future. NONE have come.

For all my former colleagues who left after being told raises were not in their future, or were laid off leaving the newsroom bare, I hope justice finally comes for all.

We hear about changes at other CBS stations (staff hires, contracts being negotiated and raises) but so far ZIP at KCBS/KCAL.

How can anyone be surprised that we ranked lowest in morale of the entire O&O group,

Current managers were all under the umbrella of David Friend and Peter Dunn... so why are they still allowed to continue ruining the once Tiffany Network?

And, another email about the same story.

Email:

We all, here at KCBS/KCAL, are so happy you wrote an article about our situation.

My one ask: is there any way you can make the story public? So many people need to see what's happening here!

I understand your Patron tiers, but I thought I would ask...

Everything you wrote is 100% accurate.

Sounds like this is something new boss Wendy McMahon should take care of - maybe have meetings with producers, writers, anchors who are all being asked to do so much with so little.

Burnout is the name of the game here, until it gets so bad MORE people leave.

Last week, the staff found out that for the first time ever- CBS has hired a headhunting service to help recruit producers. NO ONE wants to come here.

Some producers are having to work 60+ hour weeks, 6+ days...

And produce AT LEAST 2 hours of news a day. It's not the scheduler's fault... it's the crappy management.

Assistant News Director Jenn Pierce can't find her ass with both hands And she's off for the next two weeks

It's nice that management can take so much time off and producers/writers can't

Sorry to vent.

You're doing God's work and are incredible.

Thank you again.

Response from FTVLive:

I’m not sure I’m doing God’s, she’s doing a good job of handling that.

In regards to making Patron stories public? Becoming a Patron cost just a few cents a day, but it helps us out here a lot. While many have offered to support FTVLive, we feel that they should get something in return and that is the reason we offer them EXCLUSIVE stories.

We made the Patron membership price at a point where everyone can afford it. I will continue to offer up Patron stories and they will be exclusively for the Patrons and not be made public.

Thanks for the emails.
