What’s Old is New Again at WPLG in Miami

Yesterday, FTVLive told you that after almost 9 years at WPLG in Miami, Managing Editor Peggy Phillip was leaving the station for a gig in Greenville.

Insiders tell FTVLive that Phillip’s job at WPLG has already been filled.

A source tells FTVLive that Alissa Merlo is being tapped to replace Phillip.

Merlo was working across the street at WFOR, but once worked at WPLG.

One station insider says that Merlo was tough to deal with when she was at WPLG, but after leaving she remained friends with News Director Bill Pohovey.

“She is known to play favorites,” said the insider, which makes her perfect for Pohovey, who is known for doing the same.

We hear that Merlo starts next week.
