Longtime WHAM (Rochester, NY) Chief Meteorologist Glenn Johnson says that the Sinclair station has eliminated his job and he will soon be out of work.

Johnson was hired at the station in 1985 straight out of college.

He posted a note to social media saying that after nearly 4 decades at the station, he is a “workforce reduction” and his position “has been eliminated.”

Really?

So, a station located in the very snowy and unpredictable weather of the Western New York region is not going to have a “Chief Meteorologist”?

Will the station just retitle the job and hand it off to someone that is younger and cheaper? Or, is WHAM going to do a newscast without a weather segment, or a Meteorologist?

Highly doubtful.

It stinks that the TV news business is a hard one to break into and when you do finally get in, you are making little money and often work some of the worst shifts.

Then when you finally work your way up to a better schedule and start making a decent wage, the company decides to part ways with you.

What a business.

Here is Johnson’s letter that he posted.
