It Was a Joke....

Yesterday, FTVLive told you that a large offer was made by a person in the media to purchase FTVLive. We said that we could not name the person, but we did provide a link to their Facebook page.

When you clicked on the link, many were surprised to see that it linked back to their own Facebook profile.

Yes, it was another one of FTVLIve’s classic April Fools Day pranks, and judging by the emails, texts, and phone calls that I got, many of you were fooled.

Many of you emailed saying that you fell for it for a bit, before figuring it out.

This is one portion of an email sent to FTVLive that we enjoyed:

It took me a few seconds of clicking on the link in the story about "FTV Live being bought out," to realize that it was an April Fool's joke.

The clue was when my own Facebook page popped up in the link to the Facebook owner of the potential buyer. It kept popping up every time I clicked on the link in the story.

Frankly in my opinion, you do an excellent job at FTV Live... if you ever sold it, I'd never want to read it again, because nobody thinks exactly the same way about the TV news business the way that I do, EXCEPT you.

This isn't Halloween, but I can look at your April Fool's gag as a trick or treat. The "trick" was that 'selling FTVLive' nonsense you tried to pull.. the "treat" is that, with apologies to Billy Joel: "I like you FTVLive, just the way you are."

While there have been offers by a number of people and companies interested in buying FTVLive.com, at this point in time, we have no interest in selling.

And that is no joke.
