Back in January, KPHO (Phoenix) Reporter Dennis Welch broke the news that a lobbyist was placed on leave amid allegations she engaged in an inappropriate romantic relationship with a state lawmaker.

Welch’s story included a trove of handwritten love letters addressed to "AnnaMarie" and signed "Love David."

The “David” in those letters is thought to be state lawmaker Rep. David Cook.

The story has brought Cook a lot of not wanted attention and yesterday, Cook appeared to make fun of the situation on April Fool’s Day.

Cleary, the offer was an April Fool’s joke.
