You Don't Get It....
/FTVLive got a few emails about John Oliver’s Tucker Carlson take on his HBO show.
It seems that some right-wingers wanted to crow about the fact that according to Nielsen less than 600,000 viewers watched the segment and fewer than 200,00 were in the demo.
“John Oliver’s ratings were down double-digits over his show last week,” said one Carlson fan that obviously also has access to the ratings.
There are two things I would like to point out. First, maybe Tucker Carlson is so bad, that people don’t want to watch a story about him? Which does not bode well for Carlson or Fox News.
Second, and more on point is many still are looking at the old way people consume their media.
Oliver’s segment on Carlson brought in just 572,000 in total viewers according to Nielsen. But, and this is a big BUT, as of 4 AM this morning, 5,120,461 people watched the segment on YouTube. Millions more watched the video posted on Twitter.
Plus, how many people watched the segment on HBO on demand, which is where I saw it.
If you are looking at just the overnight ratings, especially for HBO, you clearly don’t understand how people are consuming media now.
Lastly, Tucker Carlson is a tool and if you can’t see that, I must question your ability to comprehend issues.
If you didn’t get a chance to see the segment, I’ll post it below:
