Banfield is a Bust for Nexstar

It might be a bit early to make the call, but sources tell FTVLive that the Nexstar suits are starting to sweat a bit when it comes to Ashleigh Banfield’s show on New Nation.

Nexstar hired the former cable news host to help prop up the struggling News Nation ratings, giving her a signature show at 10 PM.

“Banfield” launched at 10 PM starting on March 4th and the show so far has been nothing but a bust in the ratings.

On March 11th, “Banfield” pulled just 8000 total viewers and only 2000 viewers in the demo, according to Nielsen.

The 9 PM hour of News Nation, which is a newscast, also pulled just 2,000 people in the demos.

While Nexstar has thrown a lot of money at News Nation, so far there has been little bang for the buck. Many inside News Nation are pointing at NN boss Sean Compton as the reason for the failure.
