Murder the Media

For the past 4+ years, Donald Trump has called the media the “enemy of the people” more times than I can count.

He said it over and over again hoping that the people would believe the media really was the bad guy.

Now, one guy can stand downtown and scream that the sky is green all day long and most people will look at the guy as if he was crazy.

But, what happens when others start repeating what the guy is saying over and over. What if you turned on the radio and heard the host also repeating what the guy said about the sky being green? You turn on the TV and there are a number of others all saying the sky is green.

At that point, you start to wonder if the sky might be green and your eyes are bad?

As Trump continued to call the media the “enemy of the people” people like Rush Limbaugh started to echo Trump’s words. Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham would go on Fox News and make those same trump claims.

The media was bad, awful, the enemy. It was said over and over again by Trump and then parroted by his followers.

When the Trump supporters laid siege to the U.S. Capitol, they took time to write messages to the media on the doors and walls of the building that is a shining pillar of our democracy.

“Murder The Media” was one message scrawled on a door to the Capitol.

This is a prime example of what happens when the United States President goes on an outlet like Twitter and calls the media the enemy time and time again.

The media has become a target, and it is all because Donald Trump painted the bullseye on their back.

When you outside of cable news and go into local newsrooms across this country, stations are filled with journalists working very hard for little money, trying to tell stories.

MMJ’s are asked to shoot, write, edit stories, and don’t forget post to social media and a large number of stories each and every day. They are making, on average, about $30,000 a year.

Producers are trying to fill their newscasts, while also making graphics, putting in fonts, and trying to make sure one anchor doesn’t get more reads than the other anchor. Again, they are not paid nearly enough.

Most of them are trying to make sure that each story tells all sides and does not show any bias.

Yet, these are the people that these Trump supporters want to be murdered.

The media is documenting history and writing the first draft of it. They want to do their job, and these people at the Capitol want them dead.

If you ask me, Twitter took too long to ban Trump from their platform.

He preached hate against the media (and others), and that violated the terms of service.

As those that like to parrot what the President says and chime in on the claim that the media is the enemy, I want you to look at that door on the United States Capitol building and know that you might not have written the message, but you certainly helped sign it.

The media is doing an important job for the American people.

Maybe it’s time you stand back and let them do it.
